After several media reports termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Imran Khan as a threat to India, former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has come out in support of cricketer-turned-politician and claimed that Imran Khan is an honest man and it would be wrong to say that he is anti-India. While supporting Imran Khan, Pervez Musharraf claimed that Khan had never voiced any displeasure against Pakistan’s neighbour or even talking about punishing India. Lauding Imran Khan’s victory in Pakistan, Pervez said that Imran Khan wants to do good to the people of Pakistan. Slamming the Indian media, Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said that the media reports claiming that Imran Khan would “punish India” after he comes to power are completely baseless.
Pervez further added that Imran Khan needs to learn some governance qualities to stay in power. In 2013, Imran Khan had finished third during elections as he had failed to turn his popularity into votes. The former president added that Imran Khan does not know anything about governance and he needs to learn that.
The following support by Pervez Musharraf comes in after several PMLN leaders claimed that the Pakistan elections 2018 were rigged by the ISI. Hitting out at PMLN supporters Pervez Musharraf said that it was the false campaign spread by those who were losing the elections.
Talking to News18 about the relations between India and Pakistan under Khan’s leadership, Pervez Musharraf said that any dip in relations would be from the Indian side. We can expect peace from Pakistan’s side, Pervez Musharraf added.
Soon after the early numbers were put out, PTI chief Imran Khan thanked the people of for coming out of their homes and casting their ballots. He added that he would work on eliminating the poverty from the nation. Commenting on the policies, he said that the policies will be for the common and for the elite.
