North Korean leader Kim Jong-un arrived in St Regis HotelSt Regis Hotel, Singapore on Sunday, June 10 ahead of the historic and most anticipated summit with US president Donald Trump. He was greeted b Singapore minister for foreign affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, who shared an image on Twitter greeting him at Changi Airport. He also met Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. In an interaction session, Kim told Lee that the entire world is watching the historic summit between the DPRK and the US, and and it is because of your efforts that we were able to complete the preparation for the historic summit.

Kim is expected to meet Trump on Tuesday that could end a nuclear stand-off between the 2 old enemies and also transmute the secretive, impoverished Asian country.

While, the US delegation is expected to arrive on Sunday evening, and Trump is set to meet Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday.

He is scheduled to arrive at Singapore’s Paya Lebar Airbase at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday and go to the Shangri-La Hotel, according to the White House officials.

Foes since the 1950-53 Korean War, the leaders of United States and North Korea have never met before or even spoken over the phone. In order to avoid any chaos, authorities have imposed tight security around the summit venue

The North Koreans have spend several years in developing nuclear weapons, which resulted in the test of a thermonuclear device in 2017.

It also successfully tested missiles that had enough range to to reach the US mainland. The tests came amidst a campaign of ‘maximum pressure’, which was led by Washington, that imposed economic sanctions on Pyongyang and also raised the possibility of military action.
