Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel has cut ties with celebrity chef Atul Kochhar following his inflammatory tweet that caused outrage on social media. Kochhar was accused of Islamophobia, racism and bigotry. The celebrity chef operated the award-winning Rang Mahal Indian restaurant at Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel.
The General Manager of JW Marriott, Bill Keffer, issued a statement saying that the decision to end the agreement with Kochhar for Rang Mahal has been taken after his remarks on Islam on social media.
He said, At the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai we pride ourselves on creating a culture of diversity and inclusion for our guests and associates across the hotel and our restaurants. We also remain committed to delivering the traditional culinary experience and high service standards that Rang Mahal is renowned for.”
Kochhar had accused Quantico star Priyanka Chopra of not respecting the sentiments of Hindus who have been terrorised by Islam for over 200 years. He later removed the tweet and apologised saying that the reaction was in the heat of the moment.
