With less than two days remaining for the official unveiling of Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone, new series of leaks have emerged about Mi 8 smartphone which is slated for a release on Thursday at Chinese smartphone’s annual product launch in China. The Chinese smartphone giants are skipping one generation and will release the successor of Mi 6 in the form of Mi 8 this year to celebrate the company’s eighth anniversary. In a post on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the Chinese smartphone revealed that their flagship smartphone will have Animoji support similar to the iPhone X.
Taking notes from their global rivals Apple, Xiaomi are coming up with an iPhone X-like notch in their flagship smartphone. To support the adopted feature, the Chinese smartphone heavyweights have posted a video revealing the same where their company’s mascot is singing the smartphone’s anthem along with Animoji characters.
According to sources, the successor of Mi 6 is expected to come up with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Mi 8 will be arriving in two variants where the basic version has 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage availability followed by a much more powerful version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
If the latest rumours are to believed, the basic version of the Mi 8 will be priced at CNY 2,799 (around Rs 29,900 in Indian) and high-end can come with price tag of CNY 3,199 (around Rs 34,193). Along with the much-anticipated flagship smartphone, Xiaomi will also launch the all new Mi Band 3 that will replace its predecessor Mi Band 2 after two years. Xiaomi will be given a major update to their mobile Operating System with the latest MIUI 10 OS.
