If the latest rumours are to be believed, Apple are likely to launch the next generation iPhone with a rare triple-lens rear camera next year. According to according to Taiwanese website Economic Daily News, a research noted has been cited from Deutsche Securities analyst Lu Jialin which states that Apple will embrace a triple-lens camera mechanism to enable advanced 3D sensing through its stereoscopic vision. As per the report, the next version of iPhone will endorse a unique triple camera system in which two cameras comprising of advanced 3D sensing capabilities can capture images with two different angles.
The 3D sensors will help the phone camera to read images from different angles. Lu Jialin also hinted that the third lens of will come up with a longer focal length that will trigger enhancement in zoom. Thus, the upcoming iPhone in 2019 can be the first of its kind to have 3X optical zoom. While the current iPhone 8 and iPhone X support 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, the successors are expected to have increased zooming potentials by three times.
The speculated triple-lens camera system is expected to boost the augmented reality features of the iPhones. Apple CEO Tim Cook has been backing Augmented Reality (AR) over the years in terms of future growth and has introduced ARKit in iPhones and iPads on the latest iOS platform as well. Earlier, Taipei Times reported that Apple are supposedly working on an iPhone that will have three rear 12MP lenses along with 5x zoom.
Coming back to the present scenario of smartphones, Huawei P20 Pro is the only phone to have a triple camera system. The Huawei’s flagship phone comes with 40MP, 20MP, 8MP triple sensors on the rear panel. The flagship offering from Huawei made its debut in India at a price tag of Rs. 64,999.
