ICC Cricket World Cup Final: Tournament favorites finally won the ICC Cricket World Cup title for the first time in 13 editions at Lord’s on Sunday. All thanks to Ben Stokes for his brilliant performance both in the regular game and in Super Over as well. After England equaled 241 while chasing the target, the Super Over was needed to decide the winner. But the magic over was also tied. Eoin Morgan-led hosts were declared the winner as they had hit more boundaries than Kiwis.

Like Ben Stokes’ superb batting in the final, the several match-winning performances of other players will be remembered forever. These are Kane Williamson, Rohit Sharma, Mitchell Starc and David Warner. All these players led their respective teams close to World Cup title.

Kane Williamson: It has been the best season for New Zealand skipper who was named player of the World Cup for his 578 runs in 10 matches. He survived almost all the bowling attacks of the opposing sides in the tournament.

Rohit Sharma: India opener has become the first cricketer to score five centuries in a single World Cup campaign. He was awarded for finishing top in run-scorers’ list. The right-handed batsman won the Golden Bat for scoring 648 runs.

Mitchell Starc: The left-handed Australian pacer won the Golden Ball for picking up 27 wickets. He played a crucial role in the World Cup campaign for Kangaroos.

David Warner: The left-handed batsman finished top of the charts with an individual score of 166 in the World Cup 2019.

Meanwhile, England became the sixth nation to win the World Cup after losing three finals in the previous editions. Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan are the other countries to lift the title.
