Tirupati VIP darshan: The practice of VIP darshan is going to be abandoned from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. The VIP treatment which was provided to the members of the people associated with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and to other VIPs is now going to be abandoned. The practice of allowing the VIPs to get a ticket and skip the queue procedure to visit the esteemed temples initiated a series of corrupt activities by a group of goons who misused the VIP Darshan ticketing system.
The list of the darshan categories which was introduced by the TDP government when it was the ruling government of the state is now going to be discarded as said by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) trust board chairman YV Subba Reddy previously. Reddy’s comment came at a time when the Andhra Pradesh High Court got a PIL in which there was a request to discard the VIP Darshan system. The PIL filed was by Umesh Chandra who is a high court lawyer. The hearing for the same will be conducted in the High Court on Monday, July 15, 2019.
As per the list system which is used in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the VIP Darshan is divided into three parts including L1, L2, and L3. Each VIP ticket is priced at Rs 500 per individual. The L1 list is for the people who fall in the VVIP category including the judges, higher cadre officials, and government representatives. The L2 level is for TTD employees, their family members, government representatives, and lower level officials. The L3 level people can gain access through recommendations obtained from the legislators, sitting MPs, TTD employees, and high cadre officials.
