BJP leader Choudhary Lal Singh on Saturday, June 23, warned the journalists to ‘mend their ways’ before reporting on Kathua rape and murder case. Lal Singh was holding the chair of Forest Minister in previous Jammu and Kashmir’s Mehbooba Mufti government. The statement came in the reference to the assassination of Journalist Shujaat Bukhari.
Mr Singh was removed from his post in April after he attended a rally in support of rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua. The BJP leader, in a presser, said that Kashmiri journalists had created a wrong aura in the valley about the Kathua case.
In reference to the assassination of Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari, Lal Singh said that Kashmiri journalists have drawn a line between what journalism you do and with what you have to live with. Do you have to live like what happened to Basharat, so that such a situation emerges?
