As unofficial trends of Pakistan elections have clearly indicated that Imran Khan will play a major political role in his country as his party Tehreek-e-Insaaf is leading with 119 votes while Pakistan Muslim League (N) is trailing with 63 seats. Bilawal Bhutto’s party is leading in 38 seats. The elections result in Pakistan is significant for India as relations between ‘rivals’ are not well since last 2 years. Addressing media for the first time since his party taken lead in election trends, Imran Khan expressed his happiness and said he wants to thank people of Pakistan for coming out and voting for his party.

Speaking on Pakistan election results, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Thursday evening said he thinks that it was completely predictable that Imran Khan’s party will emerge as a leader in election results. Pointing towards the Army’s backing for Imran Khan, he said that for the last year we have been hearing that the Pakistan military wants a change, they wanted to get rid of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif and his party. He added that they saw Imran Khan as the most pliable potential.

“Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaaf is the largest single party but without majority by himself. He’ll depend on independents and small parties’ support, almost certainly MMA – which will follow military instructions which means if he does things military considers out of line, support can be pulled,” news agency ANI quoted Imran Khan as saying.

Predicting elections outcome in Pakistan, he said this is a perfect result for the Pakistani military. When asked about the election results impact on India-Pakistan relations,  he said, “Relations with India have always been a privilege of Pakistan military. They decide the red lines for any civilian govt whether Nawaz’s, Zardari’s or Imran’s. ultimately nobody can cross the red lines of the military. So I don’t think it’ll see very much change.”
