Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, June 29, laid the foundation stone for the National Centre for Ageing at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Reports said the National Centre for Ageing will be completed by 2020 at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. The PM inaugurated 1-km-long motorable tunnel connecting the main building to the trauma facility.

At the event, PM Modi in his speech said that the government wants to provide best healthcare services to the people of the country at a cheap cost. The Government is planning to build more number of AIIMS like centres than it was built during the regime of previous government.

PM also added that the government has spent around Rs 1300 crore for technological support and advancement.

Today, PM also inaugurated a super-speciality block with a capacity of 555 beds and an emergency block with 500 beds at Safdarjung Hospital. PM Modi also met with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is admitted in the hospital from last few weeks.
