The BJP Parliamentary party meeting that concluded an hour back saw the absence of some ministers which has disappointed Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has reportedly torn into absentees for skipping the Parliament duty.
During the weekly meeting of BJP parliamentary party, PM Modi is learnt to have asked for the names of ministers who had been absent despite being informed to show their presence at the meeting.
PM Modi during the meeting advised his parliamentarians to work beyond the sphere of politics. Meanwhile, the meeting focused on the water crisis in the country as Modi has apparently asked lawmakers to sit with officials in their constituencies and discuss people’s issues. He told BJP lawmakers to do some unique work in their constituencies, work with the local administration and participate in social work.
The Prime Minister also urged lawmakers to work in mission mode to tackle diseases like tuberculosis and leprosy. This is not the first time that the PM has disciplined party lawmakers, earlier this month also he had berated party lawmakers for skipping parliament.
In fact, he had also expressed dismay over the conduct of BJP MP’s like Akash Vijayvargiya who assaulted an official with a cricket bat and audaciously affirmed to repeat the act. Condemning Vijayvargiya’s conduct Modi had said that such people should be expelled from the party without exception.
The Parliamentary Party meeting commenced at Parliamentary Library Building on Tuesday with PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders in attendance.
On July 14, BJP had issued a notice to its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs apprising them about today’s meeting and asking them to ensure attendance. The meeting took place ahead of the beginning of day’s proceeding in the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
