The Supreme court dismissed the petition filed by 3 convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case on Monday, July 9. The 3 convicts, Mukesh (29), Pawan Gupta (22) and Vinay Sharma (23) had requested the Supreme Court to convert the death sentence punishment to life imprisonment. A 3 judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and Justices R Banumathi and Ashok Bhushan dismissed the plea.
