An Army Major Nikhil Handa who was detained earlier in the day over his alleged involvement in the murder case of another Army Major’s wife, known the victim since 2015, the police has informed. The officer was brought to Delhi for further investigation in the murder case of Major Amit Dwivedi’s wife. Nikhil was nabbed from Daurala town in Meerut on Sunday. He was taken to Delhi Punjabi Bagh police station.

The incident came to light after a body of a 30-year-old woman was found in Delhi’s cantonment area on Saturday. Passers-by in the area informed the police about a woman’s body lying on the road. The body was later found to be of Major Amit’s wife who had reported to police earlier that his wife was missing.

Carrying the investigation forward in the case, the police detained Major Nikhil Handa from Meerut as he had worked with Major Amit Dwivedi when both were posted in Nagaland. The Major had then met Amit’s wife. However, later, Major Amit Dwivedi was transferred to Delhi.

As per reports, Major Amit’s wife was missing when she had gone for her physiotherapy session at the Army Base Hospital in Delhi’s cantonment area. An official vehicle which was allotted to Major Amit Dwivedi had dropped her to the hospital. However, when the driver went to pick her up back from the hospital, he was informed that she did not turn up for the session. She was later found dead near the hospital area with her throat slit.

Investigating the case, the police informed that initially, it appeared that she was run over by a car but after studying the body, they later found it that her throat was slit, which suspected the police that there was more into this case.

Reports say that the accused Major Nikhil Handa picked Amit Dwivedi’s wife from outside the hospital in his Honda city. Later the two had an argument during which Handa attacked her and later ran over his car. However, investigation in the case is still underway.
