7th Pay Commission, 7th CPC Latest News Today: Gujarat govt announces DA, salary hike for teachers: The Gujarat government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of government teachers by 3 per cent to 12 per cent from the existing nine per cent with effect from January 1, 2019, state Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said on Saturday. As many as 9 lakh govt employees and pensioners will be benefitted by the Gujarat government’s decision. Patel said the hike in DA will put an additional burden of Rs 1,071 crore on the exchequer annually.
The state government will clear 7th Pay Commission arrears in 3 installments, reports said. The chief minister said that for the benefit of over 6,000 teachers, Gujarat government has also increased the salaries of secondary, senior secondary and government-aided school teachers. The DA hike move is expected to benefit 9,61,638 employees and pensioners.
Patel said that the BJP government is currently paying 9 per cent DA to employees and pensioners, adding that the Central BJP-led NDA government has approved a 3 percent hike in DA from January 1, 2019. The employees and pensioners will get a hike with the salary of July 2019.
Patel said that teachers of secondary school will be provided with Rs 31,340 and teachers of senior-secondary schools Rs 38,090 per month, benefiting 1,774 secondary and 4,835 senior-secondary teachers.
Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh government had announced a similar move. It increased the DA and DR by 3 per cent under 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
