Guru Purnima 2019: Guru Purnima is basically celebrated on a full moon day. As per the Hindu Calendar, it falls in the Ashadha month. On this day, people worship their teachers or their gurus who have helped them in choosing the right path. Several people also practice Yogic Sadhana, meditation is also done on this day. Guru Purnima is also known as Vyasa Purnima as the day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Veda Vyasa. According to the Hindu traditions, the word ‘Guru’ refers to a person who takes his followers from darkness to enlightenment. In order to offer respect and show love towards their teachers, the festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated.
