Questions are being raised on Bihar State Education Board (BSEB) and its topper Kalpana Kumari after the board declared the results of Class 12 examination 2018. Kalpana Kumari, who is a science stream student, has emerged topper in Bihar Board Class 12 examination but she is the same student who had also topped NEET exam 2018. Kalpana Kumari was taking coaching from Aakash Institute in Delhi and was a regular student there, therefore, questions are now being raised that if she was a regular student at Aakash Institute in Delhi, then how can she be a regular student of Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tariyani in Bihar’s Sheohar district from where she pursued Class 12.

To sit in Bihar Board examination, a student has to satisfy the condition of 75% attendance, therefore, if Kalpana was a regular student at the Aakash Institute in Delhi, then how could she satisfy the attendance criteria in Navodaya Vidyalaya Bihar’s Sheohar. So far, there is no response from Bihar government on the issue.

However, speaking on the controversy, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has asserted that there is no provision of minimum attendance in schools for students of the board.

According to a local news portal Live Cities, Kalpana Kumari was a regular student at Aakash Institute in Delhi for two years and was taking classes to prepare for NEET exam.

Meanwhile, Kalpana Kumari, who gave her Class 12 exams from Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bihar’s Sheohar, which requires 75% attendance criteria, so now, the question is how was she allowed to sit in the examination if she did not attend the school and if she attended the school then how could be a regular student at Aakash Institute in Delhi.

Questions were raised after Aakash Institute published an advertisement on the front page of a national daily Hindi newspaper showing Kalpana Kumari achieving the number one spot after emerging as the topper in the NEET exam 2018.

Along with her photo, there is also a barcode image, scanning which one lands up to a video on a YouTube page, where she is seen talking about Aakash Institute, the kind of coaching they give and about her success story.
